“Exceptionally tasty and quality Chinese food in abundance”
A wonderfully brusque cafe/restaurant that has a great selection of dishes for every mood. Very convenient for the Old Vic or the Ibis and Novotel hotels around the corner.
It is very hard to eat more than £20 worth of food here - and that includes a glass of house wine!
The seating and ambience is more cafe than restaurant, but the food is definitely more high end restaurant than cafe! Service is quick and efficient even when the place is full.
“Cheap & Cheerful Chinese”
This place is a good cheap and cheerful chinese. They have an extensive menu with all the usual suspects; beef ho fun noodles are particularly good.
It's small, so I wouldn't recommend for a large group (max size 4-6?)
and gets busy at lunchtimes and in evenings.
The atmosphere is bustling, decor reasonably spartan - I'd recommend for a tasty, filling, cheap eat in the area.
"Wish there are more Chinese restaurants like this one!"
Used to go there very often for my lunch when I used to work around in SE1 area. Excellent food, large portion but always leaving a good taste in your mouth and good for your wallet!
Friendly staffs and everything else is great. Ok there aren't too many seating spaces if you are having a group lunch and the opening hours seem to be a bit odd - sometimes weekend don't open.
It suits office workers who work local to the area.
I wish there are more Chinese restaurants are like this style or type. The food are very fast serving but yet, they are quite good in quality. I used to love ordering dumplings (pork + veg),
pan-fried (not deep fried), and noodles and rice etc...
One lunch per person (a very hungry person) will cost less than £10 easily with main course and a drink with change! You can take away any left over for later...

A good chinese that allows you to choose dumplings (grilled steamed or pan fried) and how you would like it served in soup etc...
Love their crispy prawns and honey and herb tea - my only worry is their msg content as I always feel a bit queasy afterwards. Probably more to do with stuffing my face too quickly though.

Culture Grub is a really good Chinese - especially in comparison to all the standard chinese takeaways/restaurants.
At Culture Grub you get huge portions of really very good Chinese dishes and the service isn't bad too - very smiley!

Culture Grub is a great place for Chinese food! Everyone assumes the best of London's Chinese cuisine is situated in Chinatown but they are wrong!
The friendly atmosphere and brilliant portions are just the tip of the iceberg. I've been in here three times now and the staff are so super nice.
The food is superb, great service and authentic taste too. Good to see Chinese people eating in here too, that always reassures me I'm in a quality Chinese restaurant.
A brilliant little place to eat - top marks!

Love this place!
This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants.
They serve large portions of good quality at a very reasonable price. The service is efficient and friendly, and they don't try and rush you out of the restaurant once you have eaten.
This is a smallish restaurant and gets very busy at peak times; there is a maximum of 4 place settings per table. One dish I'd recommend is the Treasure Rice.
There is also a complimentary Jasmine tea available with your meal if you ask for it.
The restaurant is very close to Waterloo station and Southwark underground station.

Grub it up...
My partner and I love this restaurant. 'The Grub' is cheap with huge portions and there's a massive choice for vegetarians including soups (just ask the staff to make a dish veggie).
The food is fresh and tasty and you even get free jasmine tea...
